This past weekend, I was in Vancouver with a friend, and in the midst of an awesome trip, the true moment of hilarity came in an elevator ride. When someone else entered the elevator a few floors later, we were both laughing so hard we were crying and gasping for air. Maybe you had to be there, but the news story that spawned it was this:
Martha Stewart took a polar bear tour. Getting out and seeing them in their natural habitat, etc. The volume was off on the TV, and this was all communicated to us through closed-captioning, which appeared to be fairly accurate and spelling error free.
That is, until the transcriber interpreted “those polar bears are so cute! Don’t you just want to hug them?” as “Don’t you just want to RUG them”. And everything went downhill from there. I’m cracking up just remembering it.
Martha, please, don’t rug the polar bears!
